Branding session-photographers headshots in an airstream
When I was a senior in college I was lucky enough to score an internship for a local commercial photographer, that I had no idea would pretty much shape the rest of my career, and gain me friends that I would remain in contact with long after the job ended. After I graduated, I started working full time at my first “real” job. It was the last (ok actually the ONLY) time I have worked a regular 9-5 job, in an office, with other colleagues. In the 3 years I was there, the business grew to include about 15 employees all working together in an old victorian house in Petaluma. I met some amazing friends that I still talk to today (I left the company twelve years ago, yes I am THAT old), and it’s been so fun to watch what this group of creative people have gone on to do in their careers. One of them is this talented lady Heather Barlin, who owns and runs the company Venus Girl Photography. Her work with newborn babies is AMMMMAAAAZING, and I’m in awe every time she posts her latest work.
Heather lives in this quirky, beautiful airstream, and shoots her newborn sessions out of a studio in Oakland. When she first talked to me about doing a branding session and a headshot, we originally discussed doing them in her studio. Then we quickly realized that her airstream would be the perfect place to give people a little glimpse into her life and show her unique style. Plus she really wanted to include some photos with her main man, her dog Stan, and that would make it so easy to do so. All of these were shot in, outside, or down the street from her home. It was so fun to catch up with an old friend and shoot in this cool location!
I love working with small businesses to create images for branding their business identity! If you are a small business in need of photography, send me an email and let’s chat!
